Professional Barndominium Insulation Solutions in Central Texas
Barndominiums are metal-frame structures that present specific insulation challenges — exposed metal panels transfer heat rapidly, and without proper sealing, condensation and air leaks become ongoing problems. Spray foam insulation addresses these issues directly by creating an air-tight thermal barrier that controls temperature, moisture, and energy loss throughout the structure. At Infinity Spray Foam, we work with barndominium owners across Central Texas to install insulation that performs reliably in the region’s heat and humidity.
We cover everything from roof decks and walls to crawlspaces and mechanical areas, using both open-cell and closed-cell spray foam depending on where and how each space is used. This page walks through the specific solutions we offer, the real consequences of skipping proper insulation, and what our installation process looks like from start to finish.
Central Texas summers push metal buildings to their limits, and an uninsulated or under-insulated barndominium can become uncomfortable and expensive to maintain quickly. We’ve built our work around understanding what these structures need and delivering insulation that holds up long-term.
Happy Clients
Comprehensive Spray Foam Solutions
We install open-cell and closed-cell spray foam in the areas of your barndominium where energy loss is greatest, creating a continuous air seal for better comfort, efficiency, and moisture control.
Interior Walls & Ceilings
Metal framing transfers heat and cold directly into your living space. We apply spray foam to wall cavities and ceiling assemblies to create an airtight thermal barrier that improves comfort while lowering energy costs.
Seals tightly against framing with no gaps or voids.
Closed-cell foam reinforces wall assemblies.
Blocks vapor from entering wall cavities.
Delivers approximately R-6 to R-7 per inch.
Metal Roofs & Attics
Your roof receives the most direct heat exposure. Applying closed-cell spray foam beneath the roof deck dramatically reduces radiant heat, eliminates condensation, and brings the attic inside the conditioned envelope.
Benefits of Roof Deck Spray Foam
- Continuous thermal barrier
- Stops condensation on metal panels
- Reduces HVAC workload
- Eliminates insulation compression around purlins
Floors & Crawl Spaces
Closed-cell spray foam protects floor systems and crawl spaces from moisture, air infiltration, and temperature loss while helping maintain healthier indoor conditions.
| Area | Recommended Foam | Primary Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Floor Joists | Closed-Cell | Moisture & Air Barrier |
| Crawl Space Walls | Closed-Cell | Humidity Control |
| Slab Perimeter | Closed-Cell | Thermal Break at Foundation |
Essential Benefits for Texas Barndominiums
Spray foam insulation improves comfort, lowers energy bills, protects metal structures from moisture, and delivers long-term performance built for the Central Texas climate.
One insulation system delivers energy savings, moisture protection, and year-round comfort for your barndominium.
Energy Efficiency & Utility Savings
Closed-cell spray foam creates a continuous thermal barrier that reduces heat transfer through the roof and walls, helping your HVAC system run more efficiently and lowering cooling costs throughout the Texas summer.
Stops radiant heat gain.
Reduces heat transfer.
Seals air leaks.
Comfort in Extreme Weather
Spray foam keeps conditioned air inside your barndominium while blocking outdoor heat and cold. Unlike fiberglass, it won’t sag or shift, providing consistent performance season after season.
Long-Term Structural Protection
Closed-cell spray foam prevents condensation from forming on metal surfaces, reducing the risk of rust, mold, and moisture damage while adding rigidity to the building structure.
| Benefit | Result |
|---|---|
| Rust Prevention | Keeps humid air away from metal. |
| Mold Resistance | Closed-cell foam resists moisture. |
| Structural Strength | Adds rigidity to wall assemblies. |
Consequences of Inadequate Insulation
Poor insulation can lead to rising utility bills, moisture damage, mold growth, and lower resale value. Investing in quality spray foam helps protect both your comfort and your barndominium for years to come.
Higher Energy Bills
Without proper insulation, metal buildings transfer heat rapidly, forcing HVAC systems to run longer and increasing monthly heating and cooling costs throughout the year.
| Insulation | Energy Impact |
|---|---|
| No Insulation | High Energy Use |
| Batt / Blanket | Moderate Heat Loss |
| Closed-Cell Spray Foam | Maximum Efficiency |
Moisture & Mold Issues
Condensation forms when humid air meets cool metal surfaces, creating ideal conditions for mold, corrosion, and structural damage. Closed-cell spray foam helps stop moisture before it becomes a problem.
Decreased Property Value
Poor insulation can reduce buyer confidence, increase inspection concerns, and make a barndominium more difficult to sell. Addressing insulation early protects your investment and improves long-term market appeal.
Installing quality insulation during construction—or upgrading it before listing your property—can improve energy efficiency, prevent costly repairs, and support stronger resale value.

Julio (Infinity) went above & beyond my expectations with blown-in insulation. Believe it or not, during his onsite estimate, he identified several other AC/heat concerns, including leaks and unraveling tape, both related to the crappy 2020 installation of a new $8300 AC (which never cooled below 79 & ran constantly). I've paid $$$ to have the AC problems identified, but it was Julio who found them in the course of his assessment of my attic & its insulation needs. He also repaired them for very little extra money. Honestly? I sorta felt he treated me like family. Won't know til hot weather hits whether the insulation will help cool this old house, but I can say this: Julio/Infinity did an outstanding job. They were responsive, on time, pre-prepped to keep my environment very clean (I have bad allergies; they covered & draped to keep particulate to a minimum), cleaned carefully after the insulation, and did it all at a very fair price. GREAT experience.Posted on Google![]()

Not often I run across folks of this caliber. It started with a site visit from Julio. Very thorough discussion. Provided timely product details. On the day of the job, Daniel and his crew came to the site. Daniel supervised them well. The workmanship was great. Daniel is extremely knowledgeable about temperature requirements of the foam product, and ran a test pattern until the result was just right. The finished product is great. They did a walk-through upon completion, and immediately addressed a couple of minor issues. Jobsite preparation was great, too, as well as the cleanup. As a Professional Engineer, and General Contractor for over 45 years, it was a pleasure dealing with this company. I will definitely use them again. Give them a call, you’ll be pleasedPosted on Google![]()

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers!
Spray foam insulation for barndominiums raises specific questions about performance, moisture control, R-values, and what to expect on installation day. Here are straightforward answers based on what we see in Central Texas metal-frame builds.
Spray foam outperforms fiberglass batts and cellulose in energy savings primarily because it seals air leaks while insulating. Fiberglass and cellulose add thermal resistance but do not stop air movement through gaps, seams, or penetrations in metal framing.
In a barndominium, those air leaks are significant. Metal panels and exposed framing create numerous pathways for conditioned air to escape. Spray foam addresses both heat transfer and air infiltration simultaneously, which is why energy bills tend to drop more noticeably compared to batt or blown-in alternatives.
The roof deck and ceiling plane should be the first priority. Heat gain through an uninsulated metal roof in Central Texas is substantial, and addressing it first produces the most immediate impact on indoor comfort and HVAC load.
After the roof, the exterior walls are the next critical area. If your barndominium includes a conditioned living space separated from a shop or garage, insulating that shared wall and any interior partition separating conditioned from unconditioned space also matters.
Closed-cell spray foam delivers approximately R-6 to R-7 per inch. Open-cell spray foam delivers approximately R-3.5 to R-4 per inch.
Type | R-Value Per Inch | Common Use |
Closed-cell | R-6 to R-7 | Exterior walls, roof deck, crawl spaces |
Open-cell | R-3.5 to R-4 | Interior walls, sound control areas |
For a barndominium wall or roof deck requiring R-20 or higher, closed-cell foam reaches that target in fewer inches. This matters in metal buildings where cavity depth is limited.
Yes. Condensation on metal surfaces happens when warm, humid air contacts a cooler metal panel and reaches the dew point. Closed-cell spray foam applied directly to the interior surface of metal walls and roof panels creates a continuous barrier that prevents moist air from reaching the metal.
This is particularly relevant in Central Texas, where summer humidity levels are high and temperature differentials between the interior and exterior can be significant. Unchecked condensation leads to rust, mold, and structural damage over time. Spray foam eliminates the air gap where that moisture problem forms.
Installation time depends on the square footage and complexity of the space. A standard barndominium in the 1,500 to 2,500 square foot range typically takes one to two days for a full spray foam application.
After spraying, closed-cell foam reaches a safe re-entry point in approximately 24 hours. Open-cell foam off-gasses faster and typically allows re-entry within the same timeframe, though we recommend ventilating the space before occupying it. We give specific re-entry guidance for every job based on product used and conditions on that day.
The space should be cleared of materials, equipment, and personal items from the areas being sprayed. Spray foam overspray can damage surfaces, so anything that cannot be removed should be covered or masked beforehand.
Any rough-in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC runs need to be completed before we apply foam. Once foam is sprayed, accessing those systems becomes significantly more difficult. We also ask that the building be dry and free of standing water or active leaks on the day of installation.
